Reports & Transcripts

Score Reports

Scores are generally available within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of the completion of an examination. Score reports will be available via secure access to your NBOME account.

Candidates now receive (1) a score result status of “pass” or “fail,” and (2) a formative performance profile that compares both total examination performance and performance in individual content areas to the performance of other first-time test-takers who passed the examination.

Note: Score reports from computer-based examinations taken on or after July 1, 2012 are available electronically through the candidate’s NBOME account, as is the candidate’s examination history. Candidates and osteopathic medical school deans’ offices will be able to access and print test results immediately after they are available. Up-to-date information about student test-taking activities and test results remains online for accessing and printing at the candidate’s and osteopathic medical school’s convenience.

Please allow 10 business days for delivery. For questions, contact NBOME Client Services.

Score reports printed from the NBOME Portal do not take the place of an NBOME-certified transcript. No scores will be reported by telephone, fax, or email.

Certified Transcripts

NBOME Certified Transcripts are the only verification acceptable by medical licensing agencies and the Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS).

To order a certified transcript, access your account and complete the instructions. If you do not have an account or are unable to access it, contact Client Services via email at ClientServices@nbome.org or call 866.479.6828.

Transcript requests will be processed in the order of the date received. The normal processing time is one to two business days from the date of receipt of the request and payment, and three to five shipping days using standard USPS mail. Transcripts can be sent by FedEx for an additional fee.

Candidates must have completed at least one COMLEX-USA examination for which a score is available in order for the NBOME to process a transcript request. If you request a transcript while a test score is pending, that score will not appear on your transcript.

For Third Parties
Third parties who wish to request an official transcript must obtain written consent from the NBOME candidate and submit it with an official transcript request form. Download the application form and submit with payment to the NBOME. If you are using FCVS, this option does not apply–contact the FCVS directly.

Score Confirmation

Before releasing examination results or posting score reports, the NBOME conducts a thorough quality assurance process to ensure scoring accuracy.

Any candidate who wishes to have their examination results reviewed one extra time may request a score confirmation, for a fee.

Confirmation for any COMLEX-USA examination can be provided by request, if submitted within 120 days of the examination. Requests are processed through your NBOME account, located within the ‘View Scores’ section. The option for submitting this request is listed at the bottom of the page. The NBOME does not release information about the scoring of individual examination questions.

COMLEX-USA computer-based examination score confirmation is limited solely to a review of the candidate’s recorded responses and is unlikely to change the candidate’s score. We verify that candidate responses were graded against the scoring key for the exam form that was assigned to the candidate.
