October 2, 2023

PHILADELPHIA, PA—The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), an independent, nonprofit organization that provides competency assessments for osteopathic medical licensure and related health care professions, has appointed Jinghua Liu, PhD, MBA, MEd, as Vice President for Collaborative Assessment, effective September 13. She will oversee the development and design of large-scale, high-stakes assessment programs and will direct psychometrics and research for NBOME’s COMAT examination program and numerous client assessments. She replaces Sandra Waters, MEM, who will retire on October 20.

Most recently, Liu served as vice president, psychometric and research services at Pearson VUE. In this role, she led the development and execution of psychometrics and research services for a global portfolio of licensure, certification, and admission assessment programs.

Liu previously worked at The Enrollment Management Association as the Chief Testing and Research Officer; before that, she spent 13 years at ETS in various psychometric and managerial roles. Liu has a proven track record in designing and leading large-scale testing programs and has demonstrated success in business development of high-stakes assessment programs both in the United States and internationally. She provides thought leadership through dissemination of research and applied knowledge via professional conferences journal publications, and direct customer engagement.

With more than 20 years in the assessment field, Liu demonstrates an effective combination of psychometric, research and business expertise. She earned her PhD and MEd in educational psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MBA from Rutgers University.

“Dr. Liu has the competencies required and a proven track record in psychometrics, test development, and research,” said John R. Gimpel, DO, MEd, president and CEO of the NBOME. “In addition, she is quite skilled in communicating complex information to technical and non-technical audiences, and is a prolific researcher. We look forward to her contributions to the success of the NBOME.”
