April 24-26, the NBOME attended and exhibited at the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Annual Meeting in Seattle, Wash. This meeting brings together professionals in medical regulation to share experiences and shape regulatory standards, giving the NBOME a great opportunity to connect with these leaders. At the meeting, President and CEO John R. Gimpel, DO, MEd, and Board Chair Lori A. Kemper, DO, MS, gave a COMLEX-USA and NBOME update to FSMB meeting attendees.

Also this spring, Gimpel and General Counsel Doug Murray, Esq. presented updates to the Osteopathic Medical Board of California and the Texas Medical Board during their recent meetings. The NBOME continues to advocate for the maintenance of separate osteopathic medical boards in the states where they exist, including in Nevada where recent legislation proposing the merger of the osteopathic and allopathic medical boards was not approved, due in part to the opposition of the NBOME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and others in the osteopathic community.
