Applicant registration for MyERAS® opened in early June, kicking off the start of the 2027 Match season for DO seniors and graduates. This NBOME guide brings together key dates and deadlines for the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Main Residency, along with the other specialty matches in one place.
For this season, use the AAMC’s Residency Explorer Tool or AMA’s FREIDA™ for specific medical specialty or program deadlines, application requirements, and interview information.
2027 NRMP Main Match: ERAS Application Service
The 2027 Match cycle includes several updates to the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS®), including:
June 4, 2026, 9 am ET | MyERAS® applicant registration opens
Register for and create your profile and master residency application in the MyERAS portal. Your master application is designed to streamline the residency application process. Contact your designated dean’s office for your one-time access code to start the registration process.
ERAS hosts webinars to provide you with a better understanding of how to successfully navigate MyERAS, use program signals, and enhance your application with the Residency Explorer Tool and specialty spotlights, where you can learn about specialty-specific optimal application strategies. Make sure to check out the student calendar and register for firsthand guidance.
September 3, 2026, 9 am ET | MyERAS® program application opens
Start applying to the residency programs, but make sure to check the specialty guidance and requirements before submitting your completed application.
September 15, 2026, 12 pm ET | NRMP® applicant registration opens
The National Residency Main Matching Program (NRMP®) is the mechanism for matching applicants to programs. Once registration is open, create your profile and register for both the Main Match and the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) Match. Your AOA ID and NBOME ID are both required for registration. Additional fees apply after January 29, so save money by registering early.
September 23, 2026, 9 am ET | MyERAS® application review begins
Residency programs will begin reviewing submitted applications. Specialty timelines will dictate when interview invitations are sent and scheduled. Refer to specialty timelines to ensure your application has been completed and submitted by the due date.
October 2026 – January 2027 | Interviewing
During this period, residency programs issue interview invitations and interview applicants. Refer to each specialty’s application timeline for details regarding interview scheduling. Some specialties, institutions, or programs will recommend virtual interviews, but others may require them in person. Make sure you are aware of the expectations, plan accordingly, and use these important tips to help ace your interview.
February 1, 12 pm ET – March 3, 2027, 9 pm ET | NRMP® Rank Order List (ROL) submission and certification closes
Now is the time to enter and certify your ROL to the NRMP®, which has some tips on how to do it right. The final deadline to submit and certify your ROL is Wednesday, March 3, 2027, at 9 pm ET.
March 15 – March 19, 2027 | NRMP Match Week
Match Week begins March 15 at 10 am ET. This is when you will receive an email from the NRMP stating whether you have matched to a program during the first round. If you have not, you will have another chance in the post-Match SOAP process beginning at 11 am ET. SOAP creates a uniform system for unmatched applicants and unfilled programs to match prior to Match Day. There are four rounds of SOAP; a full schedule is here.
Friday, March 19, 2027, 12 pm ET | NRMP MATCH DAY!

2027 SPECIALTY MATCH CYCLES
2027 NRMP Main Match: ResidencyCAS
Applicants will use Residency Centralized Application Service (ResidencyCAS) to apply to Obstetrics and Gynecology and Emergency Medicine programs. More detailed guidance is available here.
June 4, 2026 | ResidencyCAS applicant registration opens
Register for and create your profile and master residency application in the ResidencyCAS portal. Contact your designated dean’s office for your one-time access link to start the registration process.
August 24, 2026 | Applicants can request COMLEX-USA scores from the NBOME
September 2, 2026, 9 am ET | Applications to programs open
September 17, 2026, 11:59 pm ET | Applications deadline*
*Applicants are encouraged to submit applications by the stated deadline. Applications submitted later may not be reviewed by programs.

Urology Match
The American Urological Association (AUA), in partnership with the Society of Academic Urologists (SAU), oversees the Urology Residency Match Program.

Military Match
The Defense Health Agency Graduate Medical Education (DHAGME) oversees the residency programs for the Army, Navy, and Air Force branches of the military using the Joint Graduate Medical Education Selection Board, commonly known as the “Military Match.” The program uses the NRMP Main Match Program. Applicants must submit their applications using the Medical Operational Data System.
July 1 – August 31, 2026 | Military Residency Match cycle opens and closes

Ophthalmology Match
The Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology established and sponsors the Ophthalmology Residency Matching Program and uses the San Francisco Match Central Application Service (SF CAS) to provide application and match services.

The American Council of Educators in Plastic Surgery recommends Integrated programs and applicants utilize the NRMP: ERAS timeline.
The Association of Academic Chairmen of Plastic Surgery established the Plastic Surgery Matching Program (PSMP) for Independent programs and applicants and utilizes the San Francisco Match Central Application Service (SF CAS) (SF CAS). Find a more detailed timeline here.
