ThE PrESiDENT’S AWArD fOr OuTSTANDiNG SErvicE
The 2016 winner of the NBOME President's Award for
Outstanding Service, Don Montrey, is learning
technologies specialist in the Department of Clinical
Skills Testing and Continuous Professional
Development. The award, conferred by NBOME
President & CEO Dr. John R. Gimpel, recognizes
exemplary performance of employee activities directly
related to the organization’s Core Values, going above
and beyond the scope of assigned responsibilities in
one or more of the following areas:
• Supporting the NBOME’s practices, procedures
and policies
• Innovation and proactive leadership
• Extraordinary service to community
• Substantial cost-effectiveness
• Building relationships / partnerships
Mr. Montrey was nominated by his peers for
contributions that included work on the NBOME
Learning Center and the Osteopathic Performance
Assessment and Improvement Modules (OPAIM). He
advanced multimedia test items for COMLEX-USA
Levels 1-3, Level 2-PE video training materials,
marketing and communications multimedia. Through his
work with the Advanced Items and the NBOME Learning
Center, he interacted regularly with the National Faculty
and the staff across the organization. The Advanced
Items team particularly admired his ability to take their

President’s Award for Outstanding Service in June 2016 from
Mr. Montrey joined the NBOME as a standardized
John R. Gimpel, DO, MEd, NBOME President & CEO
patient (SP) in 2004 and transitioned quickly to full-time
roles as an SP trainer and then coordinator for SP
training. In 2013, he assumed his current role as learning
technologies specialist.
