The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant assists in maintaining NBOME’s detailed records of financial transactions for the organization. The position performs a wide range of detailed and complex accounting functions in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives & provides other support to the Finance department. The main responsibilities include:  Preparing General Ledger account reconciliations, Assisting with Accounts Payable processing, Maintaining Fixed Asset schedules, Completing monthly bank reconciliations, Maintaining unclaimed property reporting and Assisting with the annual audit.

 

LOCATION: CHICAGO OFFICE                                                      DEPARTMENT: FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Responsibilities:

·         Complete General Ledger account reconciliations, following up on outstanding items

·         Assist with Accounts Payable processing, including setting up new vendors for payment

·         Maintain Fixed Asset records and related depreciation schedules, preparing and recording related journal entries

·         Complete monthly bank reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies

·         Maintain unclaimed property reporting including vendor follow up communication and state filings

·         Other General Ledger postings as needed

·         Assist with annual audit schedule preparation and special projects

·         Other duties as requested by the Controller or senior leadership staff

Qualifications:

·         College degree required

·         1-3 years accounting experience

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including intermediate to advanced Excel

·         Experience using Sage Intacct

·         Data entry, accuracy, and attention to detail

·         Flexibility and positive, team-oriented attitude

·         Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to maintain organized, neat and accurate files

·         Multi-tasking skills and ability to balance frequently changing, competing priorities

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to manage competing priorities and meet internal and external deadlines

·         Proven ability to handle confidential information with professional discretion
