Examination Format

The COMVEX examination consists of 400 items which are divided into eight 50-item sections. The examination is administered in two sessions: one 4-hour morning session, and another 4-hour afternoon session. Each session covers four of the available section topics.

The majority of COMVEX examinations use a Best-Answer choice, within a Multiple-Choice question format. The item is followed by five answer options, only one of which is most appropriate.

Item Types

Some items are accompanied by graphics (e.g., charts, graphs, slides, monitor strips, radiographs) and include instructions on what type of information to interpret from each visual. For an outline of the topics that may be included in the COMVEX examination and details about the test day, please review the COMVEX Bulletin of Information.
