Set up your NBOME account
Before you can register for and schedule an COMLEX-USA examination, you will need to set up your personal NBOME password-protected online account in the NBOME Client Registration System (CRS):
- In November of your first year of medical school you will receive the “Introduction to the NBOME Client Registration System” email message with instructions for doing so.
- You can then confirm your examination eligibility, select and purchase an examination, confirm billing and payment information, and agree to terms and conditions for your COMLEX-USA examination in accordance with the requirements set out in the Bulletin of Information.
NOTE: Your personal data is treated by the NBOME as confidential. It will not be disclosed to any individual or entity without written, signed consent by you or an order of a court of competent jurisdiction.
An NBOME Account is Required for Registration of Exams & Services.
Account access enables the necessary examination management and registration tools. Once an account is established, users are able to:
- Confirm examination eligibility & requirements
- Select & purchase examinations
- Change an existing examination date
- Manage payment & personal information
- Read & agree to required terms & conditions for registration
Starting with test administrations in June 2019, attestation by a college of osteopathic medicine (COM) that a candidate is in good academic and professional standing and is eligible to continue as a student in the program will be required for Level 2-CE elligibility.
Candidates will see a new tab on their NBOME “My Account” page which reads; “Register or Schedule Level 2-CE Exam,” which will enable the candidate to request attestation from their COM.

Six Attempt Limit
Candidates taking COMLEX-USA examinations are limited to a total of six attempts for each examination.
The only consideration for an exception to this policy for one additional attempt beyond the six-attempt limit is at the explicit request of a Medical Licensing Agency.
For NBOME to waive the limitation of a maximum of six attempts for any COMLEX-USA examination, candidates are required to obtain a written petition for waiver from a Medical Licensing Agency.
