COMAT Examinations & Blueprints

The exam blueprints contain program and specific learner-centered objectives outlining the requirements for examinees to demonstrate the ability to diagnose and manage selected patient presentations and clinical situations. The design and selection of the content described in the blueprint was influenced by review of several resources, including the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey, the National Hospital Discharge Survey, subject matter expert consultation and national osteopathic medical practice analyses. Each committee, dedicated to the unique needs of the eight disciplines, is formulated with input from board-certified specialty experts in the disciplines from across the nation. Our teams consist of department chairs, clerkship/clinical rotation directors, and faculty members from COMs, as well as representatives from graduate medical education (residency) programs and private clinical practice.
