Faculty Review Program for COMLEX
Purpose
For years, the NBOME had been providing faculty members of osteopathic medical schools printed COMLEX examination books for their review. Since July 2005, the COMLEX has been delivered by computer. Its format and testing procedures have been changed. Printed examination books do not accurately represent the computerized testing experience. The purpose of the new computerized faculty review program for the COMLEX is to let faculty members experience the COMLEX in conditions as close to what osteopathic students experience as possible. The NBOME believes the computerized faculty review program is a better approach for faculty members to know the COMLEX. After the computer-delivered faculty review program is implemented, the current faculty review of printed COMLEX examinations will be phased out.
Description of the faculty review examinations
Like all operational COMLEX examinations for students, the COMLEX faculty review examinations are computer-delivered. Two examinations are available for faculty to review: Faculty Review Form for Level 1 and Faculty Review Form for Level 2. Both are recently operational COMLEX examinations. Each examination has 400 items, divided into eight 50-item sections. The content and format of items are identical to what is delivered to osteopathic medical candidates. The examinations for faculty review are available six days a week (every day except Sunday) all year at Prometric testing centers. Faculty members need to register and schedule the examinations on-line. To review the registered examinations, they need to go to nearby Prometric testing centers. The faculty members will be allowed no more than four hours to complete the review. Although the reviewers can select answers for each item, their answers will not be scored and they will not receive score reports. At the end of the review, the reviewers are provided a survey for comments. The NBOME will review the comments but cannot respond to individual reviewers. If you are a faculty member of an accredited Osteopathic school and are interested in participating in a review examination, please contact the Dean of your school.
To Register for the Faculty Review Exam
